Memories of the Pacific Northwest

I miss the Northwest and being in the Seattle area. I miss the lushness, the pine trees and ferns everywhere. The rain and green-ness. The yummy fruit that was so good there. The artsy, naturey culture of the area, the mountains, and the ocean.

There are two music artists who will always remind me of that area. The first is Fleet Foxes. They are a local Seattle band and we started listening to them there and they will always give me a "Seattle-area" feeling when I hear them, and gives me memories of that time and area.

The second is Jon Foreman. Caleb and I took a 4 day trip to the peninsula in the Olympic area back at the end of April. We listened to his albums a lot in the car in between backpacking at Ozette on the ocean and the Hoh River trail in the Olympic National Park. The landscape in between was interesting...very quiet, unpopulated, hilly, and just remote. It's kinda funny because it's hard to describe in words, but it just makes me think of the Jon Foreman albums that we listened to over and over then. Melancholy, simple, beautiful, and deep feelings about life and God.
